BDB designed BTR160 vehicle has been unveiled on the Armies Army Blog

I am proud to be able to publically reveal details of the first vehicle I have designed and donated to the Armies Army cause. The Media Relations Department of Armies Army press release was as follows:

"The BTR 160 is the venerable mainstay of the RUSK armed forces. The vehicle is now mostly used for second line duties or colony defense forces and is being phased out by the introduction of the BTR 290. This current model BTR 160 - SK 'Око ' is the a drone carrier. It carries the Sputnik 240 recon drone. The 240 can be armed, however its primary responsibility is real time comms and surveillance."

Background to creating the BTR160

A long time ago (Nov 2011), I had an exchange of emails with Keith at Armies Army. He asked that if I ever had some spare time and wanted inspiration for another vehicle project, how about doing an evolution of the Soviet BTR-60. Finally, after a house move and lots of other distractions, I have got round to doing it. I am glad to report he is very happy with it, and we've come up with a few variants that can be fairly easily done.

As you'll see when he reveals it, the primary role of the first version to becompleted is a drone carrier/launcher. Keith has christened the drone as a class Sputnik240.

I hope the other versions will be done fairly soon, and I'll post updates here once Keith has announced them on his blog http://armiesarmy.blogspot.co.uk/.

Just for info of anyone reading this, I am transfering ownership of this design to Keith (for free, its just for my fun that I did it!), along with the full rights to do commercially whatever he wants with it. So if you want one, contact Keith!

Amendment: 16 May 2014: The transfer of ownership stated above has taken place and the same process will apply to all future designs I produce for him.
